My name is Kyra Vilela. I am a student at Texas State University. I am a DMI major with a minor in Media Studies. Before attending Texas State, I went to Austin Community College to finish up my basics. While I was attending ACC, I was also going to cosmetology school at the Aveda Institute and graduated in 2017. This is my third semester attending Texas State and I'm enjoying my time here, even though all of my classes have been transferred online. I will be graduating in the fall of 2021!
When I'm not in class, you'll find me working as a stylist at a hair salon in North Austin. I've been working there for about 3 years. I love being outdoors, especially by the beach. I think I'm a little biased because I'm from the Philippines so I was surrounded by beaches growing up. Even though I've lived in Austin for a while, I hardly ever get to explore the city so I'm always taking every opportunity I can get. Especially the opportunities that involve eating good food.
With the little free time I have, I am usually spending my days hanging out with my family and watching movies or starting a new series. My favorite shows to binge watch is That 70's Show, New Girl, Gossip Girl or Parks and Rec. I'm a big fan of scary movies because of the adrenaline rush I get watching them, however it's really hard to find decent scary movies nowadays. I enjoy listening to a lot of RnB, hip hop, alternative, 80's music and classic rock. In the past years, I've been trying to go to more concerts or music festivals however because of COVID, those plans will have to be on pause.
